Overview

SpaceX has filed its S-1 with the SEC and is targeting June 12, 2026 for its public debut on the Nasdaq under the ticker SPCX. The offering seeks to raise approximately $75 billion at a valuation of ~$1.77 trillion, which would make it the largest IPO in U.S. history.

In a significant departure from standard IPO practice, SpaceX has explicitly named five retail brokerage platforms as allocation channels in its prospectus. This means everyday investors can submit a conditional offer or indication of interest and potentially receive shares at the same IPO price as institutional buyers — before trading begins.

SpaceX is reserving up to 30% of IPO shares for retail investors — roughly triple the historical norm for large offerings. However, demand is expected to far exceed supply, and many investors will receive partial fills or no allocation at all.

1

Fidelity

Eligibility

For the SpaceX IPO, Fidelity has significantly lowered its standard threshold. Customers may be eligible with as little as $2,000 in a retail brokerage account — well below the usual $100,000–$500,000 requirement for standard IPOs. This change reflects the increased share availability directed to retail investors.

How to Request

  1. Log into your Fidelity account and navigate to the IPO Center (Trade → IPOs & New Issues).
  2. Find the SpaceX (SPCX) offering once it appears on the calendar.
  3. Submit an Indication of Interest (IOI) for the number of shares you want. The minimum IOI is 100 shares, in increments of 50.
  4. After IPO pricing (June 11), confirm your IOI to convert it into a buy order. You must confirm before the stated deadline.
  5. Check your allocation on the morning following pricing. Allocations depend on supply and demand.

Important Notes

  1. Fidelity aims to allocate at least some shares to all customers who submit a valid IOI.
  2. You can edit or cancel your IOI until the offering period closes; after close you can only reduce your quantity.
  3. Selling within 15 days of the IPO ("flipping") may restrict future IPO participation.
  4. Fidelity hosted a customer webinar on June 3, 2026 titled "A Beginner's Guide to Getting In Early" on IPOs.
2

Charles Schwab

IPO Center: schwab.com/ipo

Eligibility

Schwab requires a minimum liquid net worth threshold of $100,000 in brokerage accounts to participate in IPOs, including SpaceX. Accounts must be in good standing.

How to Request

  1. Log in to your Schwab account.
  2. Go to Trade → IPOs on Schwab's website and check the IPO Calendar.
  3. Navigate to the IPO Access section and enable notifications so you don't miss the IOI window.
  4. Once SpaceX appears, submit a Conditional Offer to Buy (COB) for your desired number of shares.
  5. Ensure adequate funds are available in your account to settle the purchase.

Important Notes

  1. Schwab has not publicly disclosed the exact algorithm used to decide allocations; expect partial fills for high-demand offerings.
  2. Requests open during the roadshow week beginning June 8, 2026.
3

Robinhood

Eligibility

Robinhood has no minimum balance requirement to participate in the SpaceX IPO. Access is available through the IPO Access feature in the app. However, given the enormous anticipated demand, allocations are not guaranteed and are typically small.

How to Request

  1. Ensure your Robinhood account is fully verified and funded.
  2. In the app under Investing, use the Search tool and select the IPO pill, or check your Notifications for the SpaceX IPO announcement.
  3. Navigate to the IPO Access section and enable notifications.
  4. After the underwriter sets the initial price range, submit a Conditional Offer to Buy (COB) for the number of shares you want.
  5. You can edit or cancel your COB until the end of the confirmation window after final pricing.

Important Notes

  1. Requesting more shares does not improve the probability of receiving an allocation — it only affects the maximum you could receive.
  2. The number of shares you request factors into how many you get, but not whether you get any.
  3. Robinhood secured a major allocation role in the SpaceX offering as part of its push to democratize IPO access.
4

SoFi

IPO Investing page: sofi.com/invest/ipo-investing/

Eligibility

SoFi has no minimum balance requirement for the SpaceX IPO. Investors must have an active Self-Directed Invest (Active Investing) account.

How to Request

  1. Log in and navigate to the SoFi IPO Center within your Active Investing account.
  2. Complete the IPO suitability questionnaire (required for all participants).
  3. Submit a non-binding Indication of Interest (IOI) for the SpaceX offering.
  4. Wait for a confirmation notification the day before the listing (expected June 11, 2026).

Important Notes

  1. The suitability questionnaire must be completed before SoFi will accept an IOI.
  2. SoFi confirmed it does not require a minimum portfolio balance to request SpaceX IPO shares.
5

E*TRADE (Morgan Stanley)

Eligibility

E*TRADE (now operated by Morgan Stanley) requires an active E*TRADE account with sufficient funds to cover the shares requested. No specific minimum balance has been publicly announced for the SpaceX offering beyond having adequate settlement funds.

How to Request

  1. Log in to your E*TRADE account.
  2. Navigate to Investing → IPOs.
  3. Submit a Conditional Offer to Buy (COTP — Conditional Offer to Participate) before the IPO.
  4. View the SpaceX IPO Prospectus via the platform and indicate the number of shares required.
  5. Ensure you have funds to cover the shares requested. E*TRADE confirmed no minimum portfolio requirement.

Important Notes

  1. E*TRADE allocates shares as a proportion of total requests — a pro-rata style system.
  2. COBs may be denied allocation as demand is expected to be "very high."

Alternative Routes to SpaceX Exposure

ETFs with SpaceX Holdings

  • DestinyTech100 ($DXYZ) — SpaceX is the largest single holding at ~23% of the portfolio. Trades on NYSE.
  • Space Innovators ETF ($NASA) — Allocates ~6.7% to SpaceX alongside Rocket Lab and AST SpaceMobile.

Funds with SpaceX Holdings

  • Fidelity Contrafund (FCNTX) — Holds ~$3.5B in SpaceX (~2% of the fund's $170B in assets).
  • Fidelity Blue Chip Growth — Also holds pre-IPO SpaceX shares.
  • The Private Shares Fund (PRIVX) — SpaceX is the largest holding at ~19%; minimum investment $2,500. Available via Fidelity, Pershing, Schwab, and SoFi.

Private Secondary Market (Pre-IPO)

Prior to the IPO, SpaceX shares traded on private secondary markets such as Forge Global (forgeglobal.com/spacex_stock/) and Rainmaker Securities. These platforms connect buyers with existing shareholders (employees, early investors) selling vested stock. Access typically requires accredited investor status ($200K+ annual income or $1M+ net worth).

Risks & Considerations

  1. Allocation is not guaranteed. High demand means most retail investors will receive partial fills or nothing.
  2. SpaceX reported $18.7B in revenue in 2025 but a net loss of $4.9B. In Q1 2026 it recorded $4.27B in losses, partly driven by $12.7B in AI spending.
  3. The offering includes xAI and X Holdings following SpaceX's February 2026 acquisition of xAI.
  4. Elon Musk retains majority voting control via Class B shares.
  5. Morningstar estimates SpaceX's fair value at ~$780B — less than half the $1.75T IPO valuation.
  6. IPO stocks often experience extreme price swings. On average, the open-to-close return on IPO day is approximately zero.
  7. Selling shares within 15 days of the IPO ("flipping") may restrict future IPO access at some brokerages.
